This quilt was designed to reflect my cultural and family heritage. I am
drawn to the 16th century and its flourishing art forms. I tried to give it the
look of an old English tapestry. Swans are Britain's royal bird and represent
family in this quilt. They mate for life, are fiercely protective of their
young and harmonize with their surroundings. It is said that they love classical
music and are drawn close to land to listen.
Techniques:
Hand applique- flowers, swans, and instruments~Paper Foundation Piecing- house and boat~Threadplay- trees and bushes in boat scene~Hand Painted Fabric- silk in water~Machine embroidery- some flowers, and instruments~Machine quilted
