Biography

Kathy McNeil, quilt artist, teacher, judge and designer is passionate about the health benefits of creativity. A registered nurse for 35 years, events from her life inspire her Pictorial quilted story paintings. She is 57 years old and is married to the same wonderful guy that she fell in love with at the age of two.

She has 4 children, two adopted from Korea.

Kathy loves traveling and teaching nationally about the creative process. She designs appliqué patterns and exhibits widely in international competition. She has won many awards. Her quilts have been featured in museums, magazines, calendars and the American Quilters Society website. Four of the country’s top Quilt Museum’s have exhibited her work in solo shows. Many of her quilts are in private collections.

Artist's Statement

Every creative act begins as a connection between the artist and their world. Exploration of that moment of inspiration fuels the process of telling a story and making art. Results are never predictable, as the discovery is different each time. A mastery of techniques and design will be noted and appreciated by others, but will the magic that inspired the artist reach out and touch someone else?  When it does.... something big is shared.
