spring newsletter

Spring Greetings everyone.

Wow! It has been a whirlwind teaching blast over the last 6 weeks. CA, WY, MO, TX, WA and back to Empty Spools in CA. Throw in a couple of Zoom lectures/workshops too. The Quilting Community is vibrating with renewed "in person" energy. It is such a joy to see the show-and-share quilts that have come into the light after Covid isolation. Quilters have an indomitable spirit. We created things of beauty and comfort even during the pandemic.

One of my recent students was 85. She was filled with enthusiasm and took to Apliquick like a duck to water! I am always saying "getting into that creative zone is good for our health".  This getting older thing is certainly challenging, but I am so grateful that I have found something that keeps me so happy and engaged in continuous learning.

Big exciting family news!  We are going to be Grandparents again. OMG, we are over the moon.  A little girl who will arrive in July.  Her Mama's tummy is so cute and her Daddy's smile could light up the night sky. Not too sure how their dog is going to feel about it. :-)

Awesome Students showcase.  What great job with their own unique twists. I love sharing your work! Send me those pictures.

NEW PATTERN

Seahorse Fantasy!
Trace the design onto white fabric and enjoy a relaxing, fun day of coloring in the design with Intense pencils. 11 x 14"
You can back with Apliquick interfacing and turn your edges or back with Lite Steam a Seam for raw edges.
Combine with my other sea creatures, Sea Turtle and Octopus blocks for a larger Sea themed quilt.  Or just have a wonderful day coloring something fanciful and fun.

" Mother" my winter forest quilt won 3rd in the Innovative category at the Mid Atlantic festival. It is always a surprise especially these days with 45-50 quilts in the pictorial category per show. The quilts just keep getting more and more fantastic.  It's incredible to see what this art form has become.

Have a wonderful spring. I am looking forward to seeing some of you at the Genesee Valley Quilt Festival, and maybe at AQS Grand Rapids.
Stay well.
Hugs Kathy
